Thawing frozen chicken safely

My mom decided to thaw her frozen chicken by placing on a paper place and put it on top of a heating vent in the floor! It this at all safe?

Best way is in the fridge. Thawing as you mentioned will thaw the outside first, not good. Inside will be frozen leaving bacteria to grow on thawed portion. Many get website with thawing food safely that are helpful.

no. It won't thaw evenly and harmful bacteria can grow on the surfaces. Thaw in the fridge in a plastic bag submerged in cold water.

Toss it at this point. Food poisoning is no picnic.
