A question about a recipe: Mom's Flapjacks

I have a question about step 2 on the recipe "Mom's Flapjacks" from Londonfoodieny. It says:

"In a large pan, heat together the butter, sugar and golden syrup over a gentle heat, stirring until the butter has melted. Tip in the flour, oats, salt and seeds and stir to combine."
can I sub agave, honey, corn syrup, maple syrup, etc? I have about 10 liquids sweeteners but no golden syrup and I would like to make today!

You can definitely use honey- it's def not the same flavor but it does work!
