Dumb question regarding baking

Hi Maurizio,
I've a dumb question regarding baking this loaf.. In regards to set up in the oven - does the pizza stone sit on a rack above the loaf? Or does the loaf sit on the pizza stone directly under the element?
Thanks, Andrew

Andrew, please don’t think your question is dumb. We all started baking at some point, and had what we thought were dumb questions. People kindly helped us learn (people who bake are the best!).

We’re happy to answer the most basic of questions. :)

Or, as the teachers used to say in grammar school, "The only dumb question is the question you didn't ask." ;o)

Hey, Andrew! You'll want to bake the dough on top of the baking surface (baking stone, baking steel). The baking surface will help store heat even with the oven door opening and closing (which you'll do to steam the oven), which will help give the dough some oven spring at the beginning of baking. I usually like to put my oven rack that'll hold the surface in the bottom third of the oven. Hope that helps and happy baking!
