CARROT CAKE >> REFRIDGE THE LAYERS OR ROOM TEMP?

I'm in the middle of making a surprise carrot cake. Won't be frosted until the morning. Do I keep the layers at room temp overnight or in the fridge? Will this dry it out? Should I refrigerate it after AM frosting?? THANK YOU
