A question about a recipe: New Year's Day Fresh Ham

What is meant by "fresh ham" in this recipe? If you go to the butcher and ask for a fresh ham, you get an uncured pork leg (white, very light pink) that looks like a very large pork roast and not like what we typically think of as a "ham." Was that used here? Thanks so much. ;o)
