Nope! They shouldn't take more than an hour to cook. For my money, no beans really NEED to be soaked, it just shortens the cooking time if you do. But lentils cook so quickly, why bother.
I absolutely agree that lentils do not need to be soaked. I do soak beans and chickpeas, however.
