Author Notes

I grew up loving Romanian food from my grandmother. We always had Borscht with Flunken, Sweet and sour meat balls, holishkes, Romanian eggplant. These are our holiday staples.
White Turnip is a dish that's always on our table as an appetizer.
I love it! During passover I put it on matzoh with Romanian eggplant. —EatingInAndOut

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 8 white turnips grated
  • 5 small yellow onions grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • kosher salt
Directions
  1. DIRECTIONS Using a Cuisinart place turnips and onion through the top so that the ingredients cuts into shredded pieces. Don't put the ingredients into the bowl part of the Cuisinart. If you put the Turnip through the top it will cut into thin shreds. Once the ingredients is shredded it will fall down into the bowl. Empty the bowl and repeat. After your ingredients is finely shredded, add 2 Tbs of Canola oil. Don't use olive oil it won't taste the same. This recipe can serve many people and lasts for several days. A great vegetarian option!
