Breakfast person or not, morning person or otherwise, a good, intentional-feeling breakfast can make any morning feel thoughtful and full. And with Labor Day passed and the back-to-school press imminent if not already here, reliable breakfasts are the things holding our mornings down.
We asked you to share your steady, go-to weekday morning breakfasts on Instagram last week—here are some of our favorites!
A big congrats to our winner, who made this breakfasty peach crisp! (Why not, right? It's got oats in it and everything.):
Make pizza dough the night before, and in the morning, crank the oven while you make your coffee—then slide on your toppings and go:
A fried egg, avocado, tomato, and onion—all bundled up in a toasty paratha. It's an Indian egg roll crossed with avocado toast!:
Clean out the fridge, put the contents in a skillet, and crack a couple of eggs over the top. It's hash! And it's delicious. And it's ready lickety-split:
Make a batch of scones on the weekend, freeze them, and heat them up in the oven on your way out of the door:
It's been a whirlwind coming back from vacation and starting a long stretch of work but I'm happy to be home. I'm still trying to catch up on emails and work projects but it's really nice to fall back to our normal routine and cooking and baking again. Here are the lightweight blueberry scones from earlier. They're a little brown but still delicious. Recipe from @food52 's baking book. #scones #scone #blueberries #blueberry #blueberryscone #f52grams #bobsbreakfast #beyondsweetandsavory
Little toast soldiers plus a dippy egg—a weekday breakfast that feels like a weekend one:
In Sierra Leone, breakfast is groundnut butter and bananas on pita bread (and lots of coffee):
I recently moved to Freetown, Sierra Leone, and one of my early challenges was figuring out what to eat for breakfast. West African food is too spicy and oily for me to eat on a daily basis (especially in the morning), but groceries at the Western super markets leave something to be desired: expired cereal, overpriced dairy, and mealy oatmeal. While they do carry Western peanut butter, I don’t like the kind with hydrogenated oil and sugar added. Finding this creamy, delicious, additive-free groundnut butter at the local market was thus a game-changer! I think I love it even more than natural peanut butter back home because I found it at a time when I was ready to give up on enjoying breakfast. Nowadays, my go-to weekday breakfast is groundnut butter and sliced bananas (usually two because bananas here are smaller) sandwiched in pita bread (which I get at the Lebanese market), along with Nescafe instant coffee. It’s delicious and filling, something I would definitely replicate in the States! Now all I need is a good coffee maker… #f52grams #bobsbreakfast
The best time of year is when oatmeal and blueberries are both in season:
An already-spiffy quick bread gets even spiffier with a row of sliced figs down the top:
Fig-Apple Almond quick bread made with a combination of almond & spelt flours for a more rustic, whole grain look. Grated apple, figs & dates are flavored w/a hint of cardamom, vanilla, cinnamon & lemon zest. Dairy- free & made w/ heart healthy olive oil. Recipe still needs a few tweaks but is a great vehicle for all the fantastic figs we're seeing at the market these days 💜 #goodeggseats #kitchenbowl #organicmoments #f52grams #bareaders #yahoofood #sodelicious #esfgrams #rslove #tastingtable #feedfeed #forkfeed #huffposte #bobsbreakfast #sffoodie #progressivenectar #foods4thought #storyofmytable #cafigs #howissummer #foodandwine #goopmake #dailyfoodfeed #healthyaperature #thefeedfeed #thekitchn #eatprettythings #cagrown #figseason #gloobyfood
A veritable cloud of yogurt, a long pour of honey, a sprinkle of nuts and lots of chopped fruit (psst—learn to make your own yogurt! It's easier than you'd think.):
