Take Our Community Survey, Win Our Hearts (and Maybe a Gift Card)

October 11, 2016

You, yes, YOU—the one reading these words right now at home, at work (we won't tell), or waiting in a long line—are the backbone of this site. Our community is at the forefront of everything we do, so we want to make sure that we know more about you (1) and your hopes and dreams (2) in order to make your interactions with Food52 the very best they can be. All of which is to say: We have a favor to ask.

Could you please fill out our annual community survey?

It will take less than 10 minutes of your time and you can enter for a chance at a $100 gift card to our Shop.

Go on, pull up a chair, tell us about yourself Photo by Alpha Smoot

Ready? Set? Go: Fill it out here. Thank you!

“I did make that comment at the very end of the survey using one example, but just remembered another one that made my answers less than accurate, and this entailed the questions about coffee. For example, we only ever patronize places that give FairTrade Organic for at least one of the choices. And if visiting, we often take a lb. of same as host/hostess gift. I wished I'd had a chance to make that point during the survey, as it's very important to us, after all we've read online (same with chocolate).”

(2) Okay, we don't cover hopes and dreams in this survey, but we keep it in mind for next year's. In the meantime, feel free to tell us about them in the comments.

Why is this still posted when it's closed? Are there results that would be of interest?

Hi Katherine, it's still on the site simply because we don't take down old articles, I apologize for any confusion! We haven't shared results from past community surveys, but will take your suggestion into consideration in the future.

I'm surprised you only offered the gender choices of male and female - don't you realize that there may be gender non-conforming people who read your site and would be turned off by the first question?

Thank you for sharing. We will happily take this into consideration moving forward!

Fal, are you a troll? Because I see you just joined Food 52 today. I mean, really, it's not that I would have anything against non-conforming gendered people, but what portion of the population would fall into that category? Perhaps 1/billionth? Lets get off the PC crap, please.

Nope, I just didn't want my full name displayed so I made a new account. Food52 just seems like an inclusive community, and I take surveys for other websites that I interact with from time to time, and most of those include at least an option of "other" for gender. I just think it's important to be inclusive!

Ok, then, since you're not a troll, I apologize for being a bit rough, the bad language and all....

It was nice to take the survey - but I wish it had more "N/A" or "other" spaces for more of the questions. I did make that comment at the very end of the survey using one example, but just remembered another one that made my answers less than accurate, and this entailed the questions about coffee. For example, we only ever patronize places that give FairTrade Organic for at least one of the choices. And if visiting, we often take a lb. of same as host/hostess gift. I wished I'd had a chance to make that point during the survey, as it's very important to us, after all we've read online (same with chocolate).

Great feedback that we'll keep in mind for next year's, thank you!
