The 2017 Piglet will be back for the final judgment on Monday, March 20th—in the meantime, cook your way through the finalists with us.

The biscuits below are from finalist My Two Souths by Asha Gomez:

But the greatest coup of this entire exercise was Gomez’s Tellicherry buttermilk biscuits, which should frankly be The Standard Biscuit Anywhere That Biscuits Are Served.

Made the biscuit recipe exactly as written. Did not rise at all. Tasted fine but dissappointing in appearance and texture. Was a step left out? Did not call for kneading so I didn't. Any advice?

This is not a new recipe. It is almost identical to 'Peppered Buttermilk Biscuits' on page 267 of "Celebrating the Midwestern Table" by Abby Mandel.... except that hers has a little baking powder, and is glazed with brushed-on egg. And uses regular flour (thus the baking powder addition). I only made these once, about 20 years ago. Pepper in biscuits is definitely unusual (and memorable, obviously).

That's one hell of a scroll.

As the others have said, the link goes to a Nutella cookie recipe. What happened @Food52?

Nicole March 22, 2017
Hey Food52...your link is bad, it goes to a cookie recipe, not a biscuit recipe

If it's the lead story, then the lead recipe needs to match the story to maintain the integrity of your article.

If you scroll down, you'll see it. For me it was about the 6th recipe down the page.
Or just hit ctrl-F and search for Tellicherry.

Sorry, nothing healthy about baking powder biscuits. They're delicious, but not healthy.

Smaug March 18, 2017
True enough, and large amounts of black pepper certainly won't help- weird that they chose to emphasize health in the blurb.

Healthy kick of spice is what was intended—we'll edit to reflect!
