Dabblings  Sour Cream Cookies

Don’t let her name fool you; Dabblings is far from a dabbler. Yes, she cooks, bakes, cans, cures, raises animals, blogs and photographs. (She says she’s a “life connoisseur.” We say “wonder woman.”) But these activities are far from, well, dabblings; with every project, every undertaking, Dabblings throws herself head-first into creating something special. (Check out her most recent addition to Charcutepalooza. Now that’s dedication.)

Shop the Story

Better yet, she makes her recipes approachable, even for those of us that are not the self-described “do-it-yourself-ers” that she, so obviously, is. Too nervous to try your hand at a Chicken Liver Terrine with Chipotle and Raisins? Try out her crazy-good Old Fashioned Sour Cream Cookies (pictured above) instead. Thoughts of Cucumber Jelly making you quiver? Cucumber and Ginger Tea Sandwich has got you covered. But no matter how comfortable we feel in the kitchen, Dabblings’ recipes challenge us, make us want to try something new. Peony Ice Cream with a Blackberry Honey Swirl? Mock Jaboticabo Pop? Okay, you’ve got us. We’ll dabble.

And this is why I so enjoy "Cooks in the Spotlight". Dabblings, your blog is terrific. I love that you have a lifetime of recipes binder from your mother and that your favorite pie is the one you made in home ec. class in 7th grade. I look forward to seeing more from you! Congratulations.
