Sticky Toffee Pudding Style-Off, Day Three

August  6, 2012

We're hosting our own Summer Food Fights on FOOD52 -- come play along! Big prizes await.

This is Day Three of the Style-Off, a grueling battle to beautify the likes of a helplessly brown, British dessert. We’ve seen Heidi Swanson of 101 Cookbooks and Sunday Suppers’ Karen Mordechai take on the pudding. Today: Todd Coleman of Saveur gives it his best, seductive shot.

Let’s get back to the beauty contest, shall we?

We’re back after the weekend to resume the Style-Off -- a challenge where flair and a keen, aesthetic eye make all the difference. So far, competitors have arranged, angled, and focused their ways through the battle with grace: Heidi Swanson of 101 Cookbooks dressed her sticky toffee pudding simply in a photo that calls to mind a cozy Sunday afternoon. Karen Mordechai, presenting second, took a step back, integrating the process of a slow, steady pour of toffee goodness.

Today, the pudding struts

Todd Coleman is pulling out all of the stops with his dramatic, seductive entry. Through his lens, sticky toffee pudding grows the longest legs we’ve ever seen on a dessert. To Todd, styling his pudding meant decking it out in a slinky red dress and a pair of stilettos. It’s bold, it’s sultry, there’s no way around it: this as sexy as pudding gets.

Results, Day Three

Can we compete with this? Come back tomorrow -- we’ll be throwing our submission into the ring to see if it measures up. We won’t deny a healthy amount of Summer Food Fight jitters, but we’re still coming to play. We think you’ll like what we came up with.

I have a thing for most foods topped with a fried egg, a strange disdain for overly soupy tomato sauce, and I can never make it home without ripping off the end of a newly-bought baguette. I like spoons very much.

Oh my....this one is beautiful (not that the other two weren't)! That waterfall of sauce definitely made my mouth water...
