Are the photos up somewhere on the site? I don't see anything listed under contests...

This is the part that worries me:
"By entering the contest, entrants grant Tablet Inc. and Food52 a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any educational, promotional, publicity, exhibition, archival, scholarly, and all other standard purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. Tablet Inc. and Food 52 will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses."
Does this mean that our photos can be sold without any compensation to us? And does the "non-exclusive right" part mean that we are still free to sell our photos to another publisher, or not? What does the "as feasible" mean for the photographer credit? The "create derivative works" means that our photos can be altered without our permission?
I hate to be nit-picky, but I have sold some food and travel photos, and hope to continue to do so, so this is important to me in terms of what photo I might submit.

Regarding Rules and How Many Photos Can Be Submitted:
I read the following throughout the rules though also saw another comment that any amount of photos could be submitted...which is it? Thanks, Jenn
"We do not accept more than one contestant per e-mail address."

Nevermind, I had to read the sentence a few times but I think I understand what they're saying now...not more than one person can use the same email to submit photos...thanks! Jenn

So this is a silly question, but how do you define travel? Somewhere outside of our current town? Or somewhere someone might like to travel? Is the idea to entice travel or to show where we've been? For instance, Tokyo is my current home. No photos of Tokyo's Tsukiji Fish Market?

I wondered the same. I have a nice photograph from San Francisco, but I live in the Bay Area. I only submitted pictures to foreign destinations but maybe someone could clarify what "travel" is defined as for the purposes of the contest.

I am wondering exactly what qualifies as travel, too; ie how far away from home does the photo need to be taken?

Your location is someone else's destination. I discover new places under my nose every day. Submit it.

Fun, fun. I love seeing all the great photos that come through, like when you did the Thanksgiving event.

$400 of OXO will certainly make me over look the licensing agreement! I'd give away all my photos for a good spatula! :-D
I *heart* OXO!

I just have one question. Are we limited in the number of photographs we submit? I read the contest rules and didn't seem to find anything restricting the entry numbers for each participant (but perhaps I just missed it).

No restrictions on the number of photos -- just keep in mind our sanity as we have to pore over all of them! :)

Please correct the error that Healdsburg is in the Napa Valley. It is in Sonoma County which is a distinctly different wine region (and not in Sonoma Valley either which is a different part of Sonoma county). It pains many of us when Napa Valley is considered the only wine valley in Northern California! Many regions, many great wine country experiences...Looking forward to this contest!

What a great idea! Heading back to France this summer, and will be sure to be spending time in as many outdoor marchés as I can find. I'll try to scoop a few decent photos along the way. - S

This contest actually ends next Friday at 8pm ET -- sadly your next round of photos from France won't make the deadline, but if you have any cool travel food photos in your archives, we'd love to see them!
See what other Food52 readers are saying.
