Food you shouldn't miss: Gnocci, prosciutto, pizza margarita, Italian coffee, any kind of salumi ( just don't ask what it is or how many fat grams!). Sun dried tomatoes, olives..... It's all good.
In Florence we always stop for lunch and order the sachette stuffed with pear and gorgonzola in a cream sauce with truffle. Great place to stay is the Palazzo Ferroni - have a drink on the rooftop soaking in sunset then walk across the street to the pizzeria (forgot the name) and order anything.
Lucky Lu! In Rome, check out Augusto. It's authentic, the food is awesome, and it's in Trastevere, which is a really great neighborhood to explore. Also, you must eat gelato at San Crispino. That's near the Trevi Fountain.
Florence: Osteria dell' Olio - order the HUGE florentine steak and have the best limo cello afterwards. Aqua Al 2-get the pasta and steak sampler. There's an American one too in San Diego. L'osteria di Giovanni- Insane food as well
Rome: Ristorante alla Rampa La Carbonara Hosteria dell'Orso-expensive and excellent
