What is the vanilla extract amount equivalent to the innards of a vanilla bean scraped out?

1-2 teaspoons, depending on the strength of your extract - I usually put in 1 tsp and then taste to see if the flavor is trong enough. Also, search Foodpickle for a question on vanilla paste which is another option for a vanilla bean substitute.
