Help! I need gluten AND nut free dessert suggestions.

I know about Lebovitz's idiot chocolate cake, which meets this criteria but I have made it for this particular couple before and would like to take them something new.

meringues with chocolate chips or m&ms are simple and both gluten and nut free

M&m’s are NOT nut-free so def don’t use those! (Package always says made on same machines as the other candy - i.e. peanut m&ms - so there is a high chance if cross contamination in m&ms. People with nut allergies can’t eat them.)

Chocolate Pudding with cognac chantilly.
Halo - Halo.

Oh, coconut macaroons sound good! Glad they went over well. If you host these friends again, you could make a chocolate mousse cake. Just make a large batch of chocolate mousse. Put half of it in a cake pan (I always use spring form) and bake it at 175 C/350 F, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Take it out of the oven and put the remaining mousse on top of the now-baked mousse. Allow it to cool, then put the cake in the freezer. After 2 hours you will have a ridiculously rich, gooey, delicious cake without any flour. You can follow the basic recipe here and use whatever kind of chocolate you like, though I recommend dark chocolate over milk chocolate: https://food52.com/recipes/12528-chili-chocolate-mousse-cake

Thank you for all the wonderful inspiring suggestions; I made coconut macaroons in the end because that worked for me ingredient and time wise. They were so good that I'm making them again today :-)

Coconut macaroons would be great -- also, I love love love Gena's vegan chocolate pie recipe. People can never guess what is in it and it's easy to make. If you used gluten-free graham crackers and rice or soy milk, it should work for your criteria! http://food52.com/recipes/25316-vegan-chocolate-pie

How about some amazing gluten free ice cream sandwiches with gluten free cookies and rich Haagen Dazs ice cream, or cheesecake, or a pumpkin pie?

Rice pudding, with or without a fruit compote. Baked apples (without nuts). Bananas Foster (or sliced apples, pears, or plums prepared in a similar way). Poached pears. Many kinds of mousse. Flan, creme brulee, and other egg custards. Puddings thickened with cornstarch, tapioca, or other gluten-free starches. Panna cotta. Most ice creams and sorbets.

Lots of pudding/custard types of desserts come to mind as an nice no-substitution required options: flan, panna cotta, this insanely chocolately pudding (https://food52.com/blog/1909-chocolate-pudding)...

These chocolate cookies (http://orangette.blogspot.com/2006/01/when-disappointment-comes-to-dinner.html) are really good and gluten free by nature (no gluten free flour required). I've made nut-free versions that were good, either leaving out the walnuts, or substituting sunflower seeds or pepitas.
