I think sweet potato would go well with the ingredients in this soup. As it cooks only 25 minutes or so, which is not enough to cook raw sweet potatoes, it would be a good idea to use already-cooked sweet potato..in whatever form you have (mashed, cubed) and add it about halfway in the cooking time.
