I am not sure, but think the writer possibly could be intending you to include all the juices the diced tomatos are canned with. Some people refer to that as broth, though it is juice and water. If you added in any more broth of any sort, what you would have is chicken cacciatore soup.
Thanks Lori but I found the recipe on another website and it showed 1/2 cup Whole30 compliant chicken broth or chicken bone broth within the ingredients.
