I put them in bowl of cool water. Wait 10 mins. And drain it and fill it up again with cold tap water a couple of times...but for the final time adding a couple of tsp of salt to water and let it sit about 20 mins.

The shrimp are cold enough when frozen so I don't worry about temp..as it's ice cold in there for 30 mins or so until shrimp thaws out. The final soak with salted water helps the shrimp retain their shrimpy goodness and helps with defrosting.

Defrost meat, poultry, fish, shellfish in cold water that you change every 30 minutes until the item is thawed. Or Thaw in the refrigerator which will take longer. The cold water works...It is a safe science

I let my shrimp defrost a bowl of cold water - switching out the water every 5 minutes or so until thawed - so that I am not leaving the kitchen sink running.

I agree, I always defost shrimp under cold running water. It doesn't take too long for them to defrost. Enjoy whatever you're making with them!

Yes, indeed! That's the way I always do it. Definitely not warm water, though.
