Must be a technical issue then. I'd hope that it will get resolved with time. So far they seem to have heeded most of the things people have brought up.
I'm in the same boat. All of the people I follow seem the same as the ones I fanned, but most of the people who are following me seem to be random. A few are from before but for the most part they are new.
I've noticed that I seem to have lost the people who had become my "friends". They have been replaced by others who might be great, but whom I've seen before. I assumed that things just got mixed up in the changeover, but it remains that way. Has anybody else noticed this?
Yes, it looks like my "followers" have changed. I don't have many :) so it's easy to keep track. But a cross check showed that one regular who on her profile "follows" me, is not listed on my profile as a "follower, and only one of my current followers is from my former list. (does that make sense?)
It means that when you click on "Cooks I Follow" you'll be able to see what these cooks have been up to in the activity feed on the right side of the page. Please note, however, that that activity feed has been temporarily disabled and will be back in a couple of days. On the old site, you could "fan" people and all of the people you fanned, you are now "following." The old system didn't give you any way of keeping up with the cooks you like; this new system allows you to see if these cooks have uploaded new recipes, commented on recipes, answered a Hotline question, won a contest, etc. Hope that helps!
Oh, it's a lovely feature of the website. You can chose to "follow" cooks whose recipes you admire, whose food philosophy you appreciate, whose stories resonate with you. When you "follow" them, they are listed on your page of cooks you follow. You can scroll through them regularly and see what they've been up to recently. Similarly, other cooks can choose to follow you based on what about you and your food and your recipes are interesting to them.
