While I’m currently the proud parent of a rather diverse group of animals, my first-ever pet was my now eight-year-old cat, Nugget. To date, he’s been my most faithful companion, at my side through so many stages of life; if you have your own cat, I’m sure you understand the unwavering love I have for him.

Because I want nothing but the best for my furry BFF, I frequently go out of my way to pamper Nugget in a variety of little ways, from serving him up delicious, nutrient-packed food to providing lots of plush beds for him to snooze. If you want to show your kitty some extra love, here are some of our favorite little luxuries for cats—plus, the chance to win a selection of goodies for your own feline friend.

The Best Food For Your Best Bud

If you’re looking for an easy way to pamper your cat, their food bowl is a great place to start. Balanced nutrition is key to a healthy, happy, and lively kitty, and there are several ways that you can help them look and feel their best—without overhauling their whole diet.

  • Top off their daily dish: You can make your cat’s daily meals that much more delicious, not to mention nourishing, with the help of Bone Broth Toppers (yes, bone broth!) from our pals at Made by Nacho—a line of cat-crafted cuisine from Chef Bobby Flay. These tasty meal plus-ones are made from responsibly-sourced protein and prebiotics for digestion, and will keep your cat well-hydrated during the hot summer months and beyond (psst: They also make a slurp-worthy snack all on their own). All you have to do is shake it up in the resealable jar and pour a little bit over your kitty’s favorite kibble. The broth comes in chicken, turkey, and beef flavors, so there’s something for even the pickiest cat’s palate.
  • Delight their taste buds with extra-tasty treats: Made By Nacho’s single-ingredient Freeze-Dried Treats are made using high-quality meat that’s been freeze-dried into a shelf-stable form—yep, that’s it. Regardless of whether you choose the chicken, salmon, turkey, or one of the other cat-approved flavors, you can rest assured each treat is packed with protein and easy for kitties to digest.

The Lap of Feline Luxury

Did you know that ancient Egyptians treated cats like royalty, sometimes dressing them up in gold accessories? It may have been hundreds of years ago, but today’s cats seem to remember the royal treatment—at least mine do, anyway—demanding a schedule packed with pampering. And who are we to deny them?

  • The absolute comfiest bed: After a filling meal, chances are your cat is ready to settle down for a long nap—which means a comfy cat bed (or two) is a must-have. My cat is partial to the super cozy and oversized Best Friends by Sheri bed (which I actually bought for my dog). For kitties that like to hide, a cute cave bed is the perfect nap spot.
  • A pristinely clean privy: You wouldn’t want to go to the bathroom in a dirty, smelly space, and neither does your cat. To ensure your kitty is happy and healthy, it’s essential to clean their litter box on a regular basis, which includes scooping waste and changing out the litter as needed. If you want to automate the task, there are a variety of self-cleaning litter boxes available today, like my beloved Litter-Robot, and they will automatically remove waste after every visit.
  • Somewhere to sink those claws: Even if your cat stays indoors, they’re sure to appreciate having a scratching post to sharpen their claws. (Which may also save your couch from those sharp talons.) Scratching posts come in all shapes and sizes, from plain sisal-covered posts to cardboard scratchers that shred into satisfying pieces, and if you’re particularly crafty, you can even make a DIY option that matches your decor.
  • Chic modern food bowls: If your cat eats off a rejected piece of tableware, it’s time to do better by them. Not only is this modern cat bowl stand incredibly sleek, but the raised design prevents spills and also makes it easier for cats to gobble down their favorite foods.

Our Go-To Boredom Busters

Many kitties are content to nap in the sunshine for 12+ hours a day, but for those times when your feline wants some excitement in their life, there are plenty of ways to keep them stimulated.

  • A challenging climb: Let your cat put those claws to good use by giving them somewhere to climb. A cat tree or wall-mounted obstacle course is sure to keep them entertained for hours, but don’t worry—they’ll come zooming back down when they hear you crack open a jar of Made by Nacho’s Bone Broth Topper.
  • The thrill of the hunt: Cats are natural-born hunters… yes, even the ones who prefer chasing treats to chasing mice. You can keep your cat stimulated (and give them a bit of exercise) with toys like laser pointers, flirt poles, and even plastic springs. It’s a blast to watch them sprint across the floor after a little red dot, and it’s sure to become a highly anticipated part of your daily routine.
  • Days out on the catio: Fresh air, sunshine, and the chirping of birds—they’re all little luxuries for your indoor kitty, which is why more and more people are building “catios” for their feline friends. These cat-safe outdoor areas might be as small as a little window ledge, but they can also be full-fledged outdoor playhouses for your cats. Either way, your cat is sure to thank you for some extra time in the great outdoors.
