Test Kitchen Notes

Warm, spiced and very boozy, Bumble Brown Punch has a light sweetness from the honey amber lager that combines with plenty of fall spices and dark rum to make for a cozy and comforting drink. Don't forget the apple slices--they maintain a faint crunch while soaking up lots of flavor ... and alcohol!

What You'll Need
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cardamom pods, cracked
  • 1 apple sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 bottles honey amber lager
  • 9 oz rum
  1. Add the water, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, apple slices and brown sugar to a large saucepan set over medium heat. Stir frequently to dissolve the sugar. Let the mixture reach a slight boil, turn the heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the lager and rum allowing to heat, but not to boil. Remove spices. Pour into glasses… transfer the apple slices as well.

Thanks for sharing! I couldn't find honey amber lager in my quick run to the liquor store, but a Goose Island holiday brown lager worked wonderfully.

Can I make this a few hours ahead? If so, do I chill? Or do I leave at room temp? Thank you!

White or dark or spiced rum? Will it matter
