This began by trying to resolve the whole Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole dilemma. Is it dessert or a side? To eliminate any confusion, I spiked the old stand-by with savory spices. Now you can have your sweet potato pie, too! —SupperStarter

Ingredients

2 cups
sweet potatoes, baked, peeled and mashed

1/2 cup
brown sugar

egg

1/4 cup
melted butter

1 teaspoon
chili powder, divided

1/2 teaspoon
paprika

1/4 teaspoon
cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon
cayenne pepper

1/4 teaspoon
salt

1 cup
crushed Ritz crackers

1/2 cup
packed brown sugar

1/4 cup
melted butter
Directions

Mix together sweet potatoes, brown sugar, egg, butter, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, paprika, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and salt. Spread into 8 x 8 baking dish prepared with cooking spray.

Combine crackers, brown sugar, melted butter and remaining 1/2 teaspoon chili powder. Sprinkle over casserole.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
