Grandmas Turnip Puff

Ingredients
  • 2 cups enough turnip to make 2 cups after it is boiled and mashed
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup soft bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • Handful dry bread crumbs -Panko preferred
Directions
  1. remove outer wax layer from the turnip and cut into cubes boil until tender, drain and mash the turnip let cool until just warm
  2. in a small mixing bowl combine turnip, eggs, 2 tbsp butter, sugar, salt and pepper to taste fold in soft bread crumbs and combine well put into a small baking dish, dot with remaining tbsp of butter and sprinkle dry bread crumbs on top bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes

I've gone from despising turnips (& refusing to even look at them) to really falling in like with them and enjoy trying them every which way but had never heard of nor would have imagined something like your Grandmas Turnip Puff. Sounds and looks amazing. I MUST TRY it! (And now what to do with that half-eaten stale baguette.)

This really looks delicious. I'm a big fan of turnips, but I never know exactly what do to with them. I'm excited to try this recipe. Good luck in the contest - you'd get my vote.
