Usually, for the Jewish holidays my mother makes sweet and sour meatballs-Her recipe is adapted from Second Helpings cook book- this year I made the meatballs using Second Helpings cookbook but I tweaked the ingredients a little bit from the original recipe for a little bit of a change. I prefer my version! It's got a little more of a kick to it.

Ingredients

Ground Beef

1/2 teaspoon
kosher salt

Tablespoon
garlic minced

1 tablespoon
Franks Hot Sauce

1/2 cup
bread crumbs

egg
-
2 cups
gingerale

1 1/2 cups
ketchup

1/4 cup
red wine

20 oz can tomatoes

can tomato paste

Bay leaf

Directions

STEP 1. Combine the ground meat, salt, pepper, garlic, egg, hot sauce and breadcrumbs in a bowl and roll into 1-inch balls. Place meatballs on a baking sheet at 350 degrees and bake until browned on both sides. STEP 2. Combine the ginger ale and ketchup in a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
