Fried Walnuts

Author Notes: I make these at ChristmasDarilyn Schlie

Makes: 4 cups

  • 4 cups Shelled Walnuts
  • 6 cups Water
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • Salt
  • Vegetable oil
  1. Bring water to a boil and add walnuts
  2. Boil for 1minute
  3. Rinse in hot water and let drain
  4. In a large bowl mix hot walnuts with sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved
  5. Heat at least 1inch of salad oil in a deep sauce pan to 325 F
  6. With a slotted spoon, drop in nuts and fry until golden brown. ~30 sec. to 1 minute
  7. Drain walnuts on tin foil and sprinkle with sea salt
