Author Notes

While go-to tailgating drinks usually involve only two ingredients- a beer and a funnel- four years of football down south introduced me to some phenomenal gameday cocktails. I mixed up my favorite parts of varying recipes and was inspired by some famous southern staples: Georgia peaches, fresh mint, sweet tea, and powerful bourbon. Introducing: Bourbon Sweet Tea. —Taylor Griffin

Ingredients
  • 1 tea bag
  • 2 tablespoons raw Sugar (more if you have a sweet tooth)
  • 1 ripe Peach
  • 2 sprigs of mint
  • 1 lemon
  • Bulleit Bourbon
Directions
  1. First, I make my glass of sweet tea: pour yourself a standard mug of hot tea, add 2 teaspoons raw sugar(more if it is not sweet enough), and let it steep for 15-20 minutes in the refrigerator
  2. Muddle half of the peach with a leaf or two of mint (not a ton of mint flavor in this)- when the leaves start to tear apart, stop. Do not massacre the ingredients; you simply want to release their concentrated essential oils so they can infuse the bourbon with the magic of mint
  3. Add one shot (or more, no judgment) of Bulleit Bourbon into your glass and fill to the top with ice
  4. Squeeze the juice from a thin lemon wedge into your drink and leave it in your glass. Add a sprig of mint and peach wedge for garnish. If you have a crazy sweet tooth, you can rim the glass with sugar
  5. Head south of the Mason-Dixon and get ready for kickoff!
