salted date caramel spread

February 28, 2017

Author Notes: This sticky date caramel is vegan, paleo and can be made in minutes. The lemon juice helps tame the sweetness of the dates and the coconut butter adds richness. For a pourable sauce replace the coconut butter with coconut milk and blend until smooth.Tina Jeffers

Wow. The flavors in this are so deep but not overpowering. This amount of coconut butter is PERFECT! And the vanilla too. I will definitely sprinkle on more salt to whatever I top this with. Also curious about making this with cashew butter, walnut butter, pecan butter.... next time!

I use it in a lot of recipes, it's great on toast as a dip for apples or added to smoothies for extra sweetness. Here are a few recipes that feature it! I'd love to hear what you think if you give it a try!

https://www.scalingbackblog.com/no-bake-dark-chocolate-twix-bars/
https://www.scalingbackblog.com/salted-caramel-chocolate-tarts/
https://www.scalingbackblog.com/dark-chocolate-sweet-potato-pudding/
