Pot Roast and Fried cabbage

Ingredients
  • Pot roast
  • 1-3 pounds Beef roast. Should have a layer of hard fat on one side. Do not use chuck roast as it dries out.
  • 1 Large white onion
  • 1 1/2 pounds Your choice of small potatoes.
  • 1 pound Baby carrots
  • 1 1/2 gallons Water
  • Fried Cabbage
  • 1/3 pound Sliced bacon
  • 2 Medium sized heads of cabbage
  • 3 cups Varying ratio of pot roast broth and water, to taste.
Directions
  1. Pot roast
  2. Add your roast, spices, sauces, water, and onion into a crock pot, set on low at about 10 pm. Add celery if you like.
  3. At 8 am, add potatos and carrots cut into quarters.
  4. Serve at 5 pm with Fried Cabbage
  1. Fried Cabbage
  2. Slice cabbage into 1 inch peices
  3. Slice bacon and fry it at the bottom of a deep, heavy bottom pot.
  4. Add cabbage and fry.
  5. Once the cabbage has wilted enough to fit in the pan, pour over the water/broth, boil until soft. Enjoy.
