Author Notes: With both sweet vermouth and dry, a “Perfect Manhattan” is a little lighter and drier than the classic. Here we’re using that idea for a scotch version (known as a Rob Roy), which lets the complexity of the smoky spirit shine through. If you’re a fan, change it up a bit by replacing the dry vermouth with slightly sweeter, more floral vermouth style known as Bianco, which picks up on scotch's fruit and vanilla notes.Carey Jones

Makes: 1 cocktail

  • 1.25 ounces Johnnie Walker Black Label scotch
  • 0.25 ounces sweet vermouth
  • 0.25 ounces dry vermouth
  • Lemon wheel, for garnish
  1. Combine ingredients in mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a thin lemon wheel, floating on the surface of the drink.
