Roasted Japanese Yams

Ingredients
  • 3 pounds Japanese Yam (about 3 large ones)
  • 1.5 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • Salt and Pepper
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 415 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and chop up your yams into similar sized cubes.
  3. Place in a bowl and mix in the olive oil and seasonings.
  4. Keep mixing till evenly coated and place on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes (flip halfway through).
  6. Let cool and serve immediately or store in a glass container.

These are delicious, but when we used the broiler with the parchment paper it caught on fire.

I have never used parchment paper when I have broiled anything. It is only recommended to use parchment paper up to a temp of 450 degrees (depending on the brand).

But the instructions for this recipe say to put the potatoes on a parchment lined baking sheet, bake, then broil. Do you remove the parchment at any point? If so, you need to put that in the instructions.

I removed the instruction to have it broil for 1-2 minutes :)
