Black Magic No-Bake Cookies

A sophisticated twist on a classic - no bake cookies! The addition of black cocoa powder really intensifies the chocolate flavor in this recipe. —Leah Gerweck

  • Prep time 5 minutes
  • Cook time 2 minutes
  • Makes ~3 dozen
Ingredients
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons black cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons natural or dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats (uncooked)

Directions
  1. In large saucepan, combine sugar, butter, milk, salt and cocoa.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Continue boiling for 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture reaches 235-240 degrees F.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in oats.
  4. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper using a cookie scoop or two spoons.
  5. Let stand until firm, at least 5 minutes. Store tightly covered.
