Ingredients
Bourbon BBQ sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 3 tablespoon bourbon or apple juice
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Chicken drumsticks
- 2 tablespoon packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 chicken drumsticks, skinned, if desired
- Celery and carrot sticks (optional)

Directions
- Step 1
For the bourbon BBQ sauce, in a small saucepan combine the first six ingredients (through red pepper flakes). Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer 5 minutes. Reserve about half the sauce for serving.
- Step 2
For the chicken drumsticks, in a small bowl combine the next six ingredients (through black pepper). Rub seasoning over drumsticks.
- Step 3
Place drumsticks in a 3 1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker. Drizzle remaining sauce over chicken, gently stirring to coat. Cover; cook on low 5 to 6 hours or high 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until chicken is tender. Serve drumsticks with reserved bourbon BBQ sauce.
