Author Notes

This toast is not a typical avocado toast. Simply adding a pinch of roasted sesame seeds makes a mundane avocado toast more interesting. The roasted sesame seeds intensify the rich, buttery flavor of the avocado and add a nutty and roast-y note to the overall creation. I highly recommend using whole wheat bread or whole grain sourdough bread for even more rustic flavor.

If you are into savory breakfasts, this will blow your mind! Pair with a glass of unsweetened almond milk or soymilk, black coffee, or dry champagne... —Lauren

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon Raw or roasted sesame seeds
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 2 Whole grain bread of choice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt to taste
Directions
  1. First, heat a small frying pan over medium heat. Place the sesame seeds and keep stirring with a spoon until the seeds start getting light golden brown in color and give off a toasty fragrance. Immediately remove from the stove. If you are using already-roasted sesame seeds, you can toast the seeds for a short time to enhance the fragrance.
  2. Toast two slices of bread.
  3. Meanwhile, slice, mash, or fork half of an avocado (or you could use the entire avocado if your heart desires). Place the prepared avocado on each toast.
  4. Sprinkle a pinch of roasted sesame seeds and a little bit of Himalayan salt on each toast.
