A flaky and delicious chocolate chip scone from scratch covered in homemade cream cheese frosting. What a simple dessert, and perfect treat! —Dash of Amy

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • Scones
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 4 ounces cold butter, cut in cubes
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 4 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon softened butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
Directions
  1. Scones
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder; mix with a spoon.
  3. Add the butter and mix in the flour, then press butter into flour using a fork.
  4. Combine until crumbly, then add the heavy cream and chocolate chips and mix well.
  5. Use your hands to combine the mixture well, transfer to a cutting board.
  6. Work the dough to press out any cracks, and shape and flatten into a circle.
  7. Cut into 8 pieces, and transfer to a baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 425* for 12-15 minutes until scones are golden on top.
  9. Allow to cool, then frost them generously with cream cheese frosting.

  2. Place cream cheese and butter in a stand mixer and mix until creamy.
  3. Add the sugar, vanilla, and cream, and mix until well blended and creamy.
