A flaky and delicious chocolate chip scone from scratch covered in homemade cream cheese frosting. What a simple dessert, and perfect treat! —Dash of Amy
Ingredients

all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon
salt

1 tablespoon
baking powder

1/3 cup
sugar

4 ounces
cold butter, cut in cubes

1 cup
heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup
mini chocolate chips

4 ounces
softened cream cheese

1 tablespoon
softened butter
-
1 cup
powdered sugar
-
1/2 teaspoon
vanilla extract

1 tablespoon
heavy cream
Directions

In a large mixing bowl combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder; mix with a spoon.

Add the butter and mix in the flour, then press butter into flour using a fork.

Combine until crumbly, then add the heavy cream and chocolate chips and mix well.

Use your hands to combine the mixture well, transfer to a cutting board.

Work the dough to press out any cracks, and shape and flatten into a circle.

Cut into 8 pieces, and transfer to a baking sheet.

Bake at 425* for 12-15 minutes until scones are golden on top.

Allow to cool, then frost them generously with cream cheese frosting.

Place cream cheese and butter in a stand mixer and mix until creamy.

Add the sugar, vanilla, and cream, and mix until well blended and creamy.
