Author Notes

Whenever we need an uplifting, nutritious, and easy snack to make Houmus is my first choice. It is packed with protein, high fibre, and good oils. Besides it appeals to my entire family, and this is the time to sit around a table and share our food and enjoy each others' company.
Serve this with bread or veggie sticks.

What You'll Need
  • 400 grams chickpeas, cooked
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 5 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1-2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar/lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1-2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt/crushed garlic
  • 1 pinch salt, optional
  • cayenne pepper/chilli oil to garnish, optional
  1. This is an optional step - If you would like your houmus to be very smooth, you need to remove the skin of chickpeas. You can soak them in boiling water for 5 minutes, and then removing the skin by hand will be easy.
  2. Rinse and drain the chickpeas and put them into a food processor. Add in the rest of the ingredients and blitz until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Transfer it into a serving dish and let it cool in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.
