The Original Margarita From Cointreau

Ingredients
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 2 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker and add ice.
  2. Shake and strain into a salt-rimmed rocks glass.
  3. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Cointreau is that great cocktail addition (instead of triple sec) which turns a the same old margarita into something really special! You'll never go back to the old way!

I use basically the same recipe but use the juice of one lime, which is about 1 oz, and serve in a chilled martini glass. Wonderful.

I use the 3-2-1 recipe (tequila, Cointreau, lime juice - in that order). It's definitely not for light weights but my friends are boozers (lol). I make them in a pitcher a couple of hours before serving so the ice has a chance to melt a bit - otherwise fasten your seat belts.

Yes 3-2-1 is much better. I like using an Anejo instead of a Blanco, has a bit more body.
