Roasted Chicken With Garlic BasilĀ Butter

A simple and delicious roasted chicken covered in garlic basil butter, and baked to perfection. —Dash of Amy

What You'll Need
  • 1 whole chicken (4-5 lb)
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 fresh basil leaves, finely minced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  1. Rinse and pat dry the chicken; place in a foil lined baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl mix together the butter, salt, pepper, basil, and garlic.
  3. Using a spoon, smear the garlic butter all over the chicken while also lifting the skin and spooning butter in there.
  4. Bake the chicken at 400* for 30 minutes; after that time spoon the melted butter mixture all over the top of the chicken. Place back in the oven.
  5. After another 30 minutes baste the chicken again with the butter mixture.
  6. Bake chicken another 15-30 minutes until thermometer pops up, or internal temperature reaches 165*.
  7. Carve and serve.
