These Salty pastries with cheese and butter are very easy to make. They are soft inside and crunchy outside. A great treat when watching movies with family. —Sonja Lazukić

Ingredients
  • 400 grams whole wheat flour
  • 500 grams cream cheese
  • 200 grams butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 piece egg yolk
  • 30 grams sesame seeds
Directions
  1. Pour the flour, salt, and diced butter into a large bowl, and combine everything well with your hands.
  2. Add cheese and knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
  3. Wrap the dough in transparent foil and leave it in the fridge for at least 1 hour to set. You can leave the dough to rest in the fridge up to overnight.
  4. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  5. Flatten the dough with a rolling pin on a flat surface to a thickness of about 1 cm. Use a sharp knife to make notches in the dough as in the picture above. Using a round cup, take the circular shapes out of the dough, then arrange them on a baking tray.
  6. Spread egg yolk on each cake and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the cakes turn golden.
