Ingredients
-
2 tablespoons
Butter
-
2 tablespoons
Granulated sugar
-
2 tablespoons
Brown sugar
-
1
Egg yolk
-
1 splash
Vanilla extract
-
1/4 cup
All-purpose flour
-
1/4 teaspoon
Baking soda
-
1 pinch
Kosher salt
-
Half dark chocolate and half milk chocolate, equivalent to one small chocolate bar
-
Flakey salt (for sprinkling)
Directions
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
-
In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
-
Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract to the bowl, and whisk everything together until smooth.
-
In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
-
Gradually fold the dry ingredient mixture into the batter, making sure to incorporate it evenly.
-
Chop the dark chocolate and milk chocolate into small pieces and fold them into the cookie dough. Use approximately half of each chocolate type, equivalent to one small chocolate bar.
-
Roll the cookie dough into a ball and refrigerate it for 10 minutes to help firm up the dough.
-
Remove the dough from the fridge and sprinkle the top with flakey salt.
-
Place the cookie dough on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the edges just begin to brown. Keep an eye on it to avoid over-baking.
-
Once baked, remove the cookie from the oven and let it cool on a wire baking rack to allow for proper cooling and crispness.
-
Enjoy your delicious homemade chocolate chip cookie!
