What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 splash Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 pinch Kosher salt
  • Half dark chocolate and half milk chocolate, equivalent to one small chocolate bar
  • Flakey salt (for sprinkling)
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract to the bowl, and whisk everything together until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredient mixture into the batter, making sure to incorporate it evenly.
  6. Chop the dark chocolate and milk chocolate into small pieces and fold them into the cookie dough. Use approximately half of each chocolate type, equivalent to one small chocolate bar.
  7. Roll the cookie dough into a ball and refrigerate it for 10 minutes to help firm up the dough.
  8. Remove the dough from the fridge and sprinkle the top with flakey salt.
  9. Place the cookie dough on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the edges just begin to brown. Keep an eye on it to avoid over-baking.
  10. Once baked, remove the cookie from the oven and let it cool on a wire baking rack to allow for proper cooling and crispness.

Makes 1 very, very big cookie - I’ll make 2-3 smaller cookies rather than 1 giant one next time but a very tasty, moist, chewy cookie.
