The best pie I’ve ever made!! Huge hit at thanksgiving. I subbed in a pretzel crust just for fun, and baked it in a fluted tart pan. Super pretty presentation! We had some leftover filling and it baked up beautifully in buttered ramekins. I can’t wait to make this again!

This exceeded my expectations from prep to taste. I'm not a baker so I was nervous about trying this for a Thanksgiving dinner with family/friends, but this was a HUGE HIT!!! Very easy to prepare, although the dough takes time (and well worth it), and the flavors are so nuanced and layered. Literally people were squabbling over the last piece. A fantastic alternative to the pumpkin, sweet potato mainstays.

This was absolutely delicious. The unsweetened whipped cream on top is really non-negotiable, it really balanced out the rich sweetness in the perfect way, totally show stopping. It is a very sweet pie, but not in an unwelcome way- definitely a decadent holiday treat for a special occasion.

Great recipe. I will be using it again for Thanksgiving dinner. I used half dark and half milk chocolate and it was delicious.

Absolutely delicious! I used Cadbury milk chocolate, and it shined through in every silky bite with a touch of maple. I wanted a fall inspired pie that wasn’t apple or pumpkin because those are already at my holidays, and this one was a bigger hit than those. I might add a tablespoon of bourbon next time for fun, but this recipe was 10/10!

OMG! Thank you for your review, I'm so happy you liked it. Do you think it was too sweet at all?

Chess pies are on the sweeter side, so I think it was fitting. Everyone at my family party loved it, and they don’t like anything “too sweet”. I was curious if the milk chocolate would add to the sweetness or not shine through. It still did, but maybe subbing dark chocolate would give it a richer flavor and cut the sweetness some if desired!
