All About Staub

Our founders Amanda & Merrill led the shop team on a trip to France to see how Staub's iconic enameled cast iron cocottes are made. We've long loved using them in our own kitchens, so seeing every step of production at the foundry was a complete treat. Have a look for yourself!

How It's Done

From raw materials, to 2550º F molten cast iron, to an enameling process that resembles an elegant ballet, the making of an enameled cast iron cocotte is more like a performance.

Our Trip to the Factory

Our crew—with representation from shop, video, and editorial teams, and led by Amanda & Merrill—poses with our excellent hosts outside the foundry. (Take us back!)
