The Food52 x Staub Coq au Vin, part of our exclusive line of cookware with the heritage French cast iron experts, has a new feathered friend! Staub gave it a jaunty brass rooster perched on top—just for us.
Similar to our round cocottes, but with an elongated oval profile, the Coq au Vin is ideal for, well, coq au vin! When not simmering that savory masterpiece, use the pot for braises of all kinds—like a chicken in milk. The enameled cast iron is supreme at retaining heat, and the spiked lid continuously drips moisture back onto your food for perfectly succulent chicken, short ribs, and more.

Care & Notes -
For use on any cooktop, including induction. Oven and broiler safe up to 500°F. Use plastic or wood utensils only as metal utensils may damage the enamel. Allow pan to cool before washing. Dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended. To remove stubborn stains soak your pot in hot soapy water for a few minutes. Avoid using steel wool, steel scouring pads, harsh detergents, bleach, or abrasive cleaners.

It's hard to look at the French company's picturesque cast iron and ceramic wares and not daydream about the *magnifique* things you'll make in them. Staub specializes in enameled cast iron cookware made in Alsace, which makes for superior browning and heat retention (perfect for those hours-long braises). The pieces work hard, but they’re pretty enough to go straight from stovetop/oven to the table.
