Can I make Faulknerian Family Spice Cake a day ahead?

I'm not a baker, but plan to make this cake for a birthday dinner. If I make a day ahead, should I refrigerate it?

You absolutely can make a cake a day ahead. You might want to hold off on the icing though. No need to refrigerate, just wrap it well in saran or if you have a tupperware that is a good size for it you could store it in that.
