A question about a recipe: Door County Cherry Bounce


I have a question about step 3 on the recipe "Door County Cherry Bounce" from Nori. It says:

"Place lids on jars and tighten gently but these do not need to be sealed. Put jars in dark place and ignore until Thanksgiving or so. "

I feel like there is a lot of sugar that settles to the bottom shortly after stiring, is this normal?

With other liqueurs, you just turn the container over every few days until the sugar is incorporated. But do make sure the lids are tight!
