A question about a recipe: Melissa Clark's Really Easy Duck Confit

I have a question about the recipe "Melissa Clark's Really Easy Duck Confit" from Genius Recipes. What does fat side down mean? Does it mean skin side up or down? Thanks :)

It means the skin side down - that's where the fat will be found
