A heavy duty whisk was first kitchen tool I invested in after reading James Claiborne state it was the one kitchen tool he could not live without.

I have them all! But then again, I'm a tool hoarder, so I've got more things as well.

I've been lucky and have inherited/been gifted the majority my pastry tools (Note to self: need a torch!). The most extravagant tool I own is a ridiculously priced $80 Rosle sieve. But my most favourite is this gorgeous, giant copper-handled balloon whisk purchased from Tyler Florence's most depressingly, now-defunct shop in Marin, CA. It makes the best whipped cream.

I've only recently started my pastry tool collection, my first purchase was a madeleine pan, but my most recent purchase was a digital scale. I feel like I'm a real baker now! I will be checking off this list until I acquire each item ;)

I'm a pastry chef and this CLEARLY a list written by someone who bakes for a living. Every single one of these items is pretty indispensable (although I don't often use chopsticks). I'm still shocked by how many people need convincing to convert to a scale, seeing as how its useful for SO much more than baking, and I'm pleased to see the humble yet versatile dough scraper on here. Don't even get me started on a torch. The day mine broke was the day....well, let's just say not much got done.

Couldn't agree more: a digital scale really is the one kitchen appliance to invest in. Makes especially baking so much easier (+there are fewer dishes)!
