June  4, 2015

Inspired by conversations on the Food52 Hotline, we're sharing tips and tricks that make navigating all of our kitchens easier and more fun.

Today: Watch KatieQ make a wholesome banana date smoothie and suggest several hearty ingredients to swap to your satisfaction.

KatieQ is cruising on the Not Recipes train with her banana date smoothie video. Freeze the bananas if you want a thicker texture. Swap Greek yogurt for almond milk. If you don’t like cardamom, try cinnamon. Add almond butter if you feel so inclined, and perhaps some chia seeds if you’re craving a healthy boost. It’s a one-not-recipe-fits-all smoothie.

I use dates and almond milk with frozen bananas and a huge handful of fresh organic kale. Sometimes I add a dash of cinnamon and a splash of vanilla or almond extract. Thanks!
