To celebrate Potato Week here at Food52, we’ve partnered with Potatoes USA to share ways we love to use the staple ingredient in meals that bring people together. To make these five dishes inspired by popular restaurant variations, simply turn to your kitchen's versatile and nutrition-packed key player.

Going out to eat in New York City is kind of a sport. Discovering which restaurant is popular but not too popular, reasonably priced, with great food and ambiance is a challenge when facing off against millions of other New Yorkers, but determining which delicious dish to order can be even harder. (Thankfully, there are plenty of resources available.)

But, sometimes, the game gets too exhausting. I don’t feel like fighting two-hour wait times, listening to dining neighbors bicker over wine bottles, or spending way more money than necessary. Fortunately, retreating to my cozy apartment doesn’t have to mean compromising on dinner. With a little bit of planning, I can have my curly fries and eat them, too. To prove it, here are five of my favorite restaurant dishes that I (and you!) can enjoy at home—the dining game can wait for another day.

You can get Arby's Fries in the frozen food section of your local Market.. At least in NYC. Can't say about the boonies....... LOL

You know.... another great way to celebrate Potato Week would have been to have a recipe contest featuring potatoes... Just saying. ;-)

Well, combining "restaurant dish" and potatoes, here's one of my most requested dishes: https://food52.com/recipes/14548-gratin-dauphinois-a-lyon-really-rich-potato-gratin
Then here's a goodie that doesn't come from any restaurant, but is very "restaurant style:" https://food52.com/recipes/4532-falafel-crusted-salmon-on-a-bed-of-spinach
And this is my take on a favorite restaurant recipe -sadly the place is long gone, but the chef shared the recipe! https://food52.com/recipes/4069-scallops-tommy

I like to serve food as a restaurant does. It looks so much better when plated nice. And my Family gets excited about it too. If I don't plate it , then I arrange it in the center of the table. I don't copy any particular restaurant dishes but take inspiration from them.
