Although I have always been a huge fan of Gail's style so loved seeing her home, my favorite part was hearing about sharing her love of food with Dahlia. I look forward to doing the same with my little one some day.

There was a Loy that I didn't know, that she is a trained chef, that she tap dances. I. Also didn't know she is Canadian, so as a Canadian her Sticky Maple Tart is now the top item on my next dessert to try list.

Great interview and house tour! I'm also a Canadian living in the US and a big fan of Gail and Top Chef. I especially liked the peek into her fridge and her honesty about cooking really simple family meals most weeks. I love cooking healthy, hearty meals, but keep them as simple as possible during the week too.

I lover her little girl's art area- so cute! And the cornflower cabinets in her kitchen are gorgeous!

Hearing about how she balances a busy work week with family and still finds time to enjoy food with the family was meaningful to read. It can be discouraging when we try to fit everything in but also want to cook but cook something delicious...something that our family will savor and know we made it special for them. I love that Gail shares her simple go-to foods for dinner but there’s a passion for food behind it all. Even baking and sharing a farm outing with her daughter shows that finding the joy in food, preparing it, and eating it is what is most important. Plus, it can bring a family even closer. Thank you!!

I love that Gail has found her calling through trusting all those seemingly little steps and choices throughout the years. It’s so inspiring to know big goals can be achieved through continual, conscious hard work and dedication- and trusting the journey!

I love that most of the items she included in her "must have" kitchen equipment list are already found in mine! Good reminder that you don't need a lot of fancy tools--although I still need a vitamix! :)

Thank you for sharing your home with us, Gail! The challenge of living with a minimalist is REAL! My husband is going to be embarrassed reading we have the same struggle his Gail has. (He thinks you’re pretty fantastic.) And experiencing cities and culture through food is exactly how we like to travel, as well. It’s great to hear we’re in such amazing company. 😉

I loved when she talked about her childhood and how she wanted to eat popular kids loving food over her mom's upscaled meals. Also i liked how motherhood changed her life in term of spending more time in the kitchen and cook for her family.

I absolutely LOVED Gail's kitchen. I have a galley kitchen in my apartment with big counters and I love the simple colors, especially the cabinets! A surprisingly homey touch is the child's table at the end. So useful, I could see something like that in my own kitchen. Great interview!!

I enjoyed getting a glimpse of her bookcase. As an avid food reader myself, I have a few new titles that I will be tracking down soon!

Her daughter's art nook tucked behind the kitchen counter is such a sweet and tranquil space! I loved reading about how Gail's attitudes towards food and cooking for a group have changed since welcoming a child into her life.

Loved the kitchen tour and the shot of the fridge! Learned so much about Gail in this interview. Didn’t realize she was a cook and went to culinary school. And it’s 100% true what she said about her 2yo toddler bc my 2.5yo child is the exact same {ate everything and now is picky at what he wants to eat}!

My favorite part of this visit was seeing how much character she has in her home. Though not surprising, her dining room and kitchen especially had such a sense of friendliness, something that you often don’t see in celebrity or top chefs homes. It was so welcoming and it was so nice to click through the aesthetically pleasing photos!

This is so sweet! The fact that she eats healthy, works out, but still enjoys her popcorn and relaxing nights, I could totally relate to. Thankful for her love for her toddler and encouraged how she can not only do so many things, but she can do them well.

Ok, I just love that her kid likes braised short ribs. I don’t think I had that till I was in my 20s and I’m a child of the 80s. It’s not like my parents; born in the late 50s, who don’t know how braising is different from baking or poaching 🤔

I am in LOVE with those kitchen cabinets! I’m also going to steal the idea of cooking a large batch of grains for the week!

I enjoyed learning about how Gail became the food critic and Top Chef star that she is. It's always refreshing to learn about the combination of luck and connections that helped pave our paths. I also loved looking into her refrigerator and being able to zoom in on the picture to see what she really eats and drinks! I love how she can judge a dish with just one bite so it was interesting to see what her bites consist of in her Cozy home with her family. I also liked reading about her and her husband's interior design collaboration.

I loved how the article provided insights to Gail that we don't typically see when watching Top Chef such as her being a tap dancer and having gone to culinary school. Although she appears to have a low profile compared to Tom and Padma, I think she is the true star judge of that show!

How interesting, to hear about the South African foods! And the "flip eggies" and "knock eggies" - oh my, I had almost forgotten how delightfully literal and straightforward young children can be. ;o) P.S. Her fridge inspires me . . . the great lighting in it makes all the world of difference. Note to self: get one of those when the time comes . . . .

I love Gail! One of the things I’ve always loved most about her is the way she holds her own in the kitchen and at the judges table. She has strong convictions and is never afraid to speak her mind. It’s aleays been refreshing to hear her insights. She was one of the first female chefs/ pastry chefs who I was able to look up to when I was in culinary school. I am so excited about this interview and her new book because she is such a lover of beautiful and pure food and it’s wonderful to learn how Gail cooks on a daily basis. In addition I always love to see a glimpse into the homes and kitchens of my favorite chefs. Her kitchen is absolutely gorgeous.

January 8, 2018
i love that her home looks like such a mix of adult and child-friendly living and seems to be the ethos she's following in raising her daughter. showing her the world through food and travel and amazing experiences and yet celebrating her creativity in their home with her artwork and own space to play. obviously the kitchen was stunning, also, but i love that it's not too stuffy or austere - just like gail! she's the best.
Christine N.
January 8, 2018
I love that hearing that she embrassed whole milk, butter, etc. when her daughter was born. That happened to me as well. Focusing on nutrition for my kids freed my thinking from the 'can't eat that' mentality. Also loved the 'flip' eggs and 'knock' eggs mention. So sweet how honest and straightforward kids are about food.

I loved when she described herself as an eater first. "I’m an eater, a writer, a traveler, and a cook."

What a great article! I have read Gail's book Talking With My Mouth Full, and enjoy watching her on Top Chef and social media. I LOVE Gail's organized fridge and the fact that she's a barefoot-in-the-kitchen kind of cook! Thanks for sharing some of your home with us :)

As a new mom of a 4 month old I loved her response to feeding a toddler, we will be at that stage sooner than we think!

Enjoyed getting to know Gail. My husband and I are avid Top Chef watchers and it’s always fun to bring to life TV personalities that show up in your living room every week! Thanks so much for sharing Gail :)

I can certainly relate to Gail’s frustration with her husband who likes to put things away so she can’t find them. I know exactly how she feels! And, she’s a fellow Canadian.

I really like the fact that Gail Simmons let you photograph her personal space.

I enjoyed the entire article, but I really liked learning that the judges take only a few bites during Top Chef filming, and finding out the types of things Gail and her family like to eat and cook. Loved the photos of her home!

We love Gail and it's so insightful to see more about what she is like as a person by seeing the design of her home. It speaks a lot about who she is!

Loved "I am also home WAY more than I was before I was a mom, so I cook more in general and spend more time in the kitchen prepping all meals for my family. " Great to hear how grounded she is and that it is possible to be a successful mom and career driven woman. Role model for all women!

Gail has always been so inspiring to me as women in the food industry. What intrigued me most was Gail’s response to how she ate growing up. It’s awesome to know that she wanted to eat as an American kid but exposed to a variety of foods at home. As as a child of bi-cultural experiences I have a similar childhood memories. Reading about finding a balance with her husband was refreshing as well. My boyfriend and I have the worst time together in the kitchen although we both live in it. It gives me hope.

Finding the balance between her taste and her husband’s minimalism. It’s a balance we strive for as my husband graciously ignores the stacks of books I tend to amass near my side of the couch on a weekly basis

As a fan of Top Chef, it was really interesting to see how her life in front of the camera came to be and how she spends her downtime. Its nice to see that she doesn't take food to seriously and has to meal plan just like the rest of us.

I loved seeing the inside of her fridge and her kitchen. Also to know she cooks certain foods in bulk to use throughout the week and eats leftovers.

So many things I loved, first of all that she is Canadian! I lived in Alberta for 7 years and miss it terribly. I struggle daily with the urge to keep things minimal but my love of color wins. The display of her cookbooks has inspired me to try and figure out how to bring out more of my cookbooks in my small space!

The whole article was full of interesting insights, but I especially liked to hear how she got to where she is today in her career, as well the list of essentials to have in the kitchen
